The exterior carved texture is completely hand-carved and hand-painted with underglaze. The majority of the body is glazed in a white “Vanilla Bean” glaze with very slight brown speckles, and the exterior cow and butter motif is glazed in a clear glaze.
The interior “bell” of the dish contains 1 standard stick of butter. This interior bell rim is also slightly warped (not perfectly circular), due to normal kiln circumstances (see pictures). This does not affect the usability, food-safety, or quality of the piece.
